Spring Sightings At Hualalai!

Spring has sprung many kids from school so they could enjoy their Spring Break at Hualalai. It’s been fun seeing so many families enjoying their Hawaiian time together although it was kind of a shock seeing a two-year-old driving a cart down Waiulu Street. (just kidding…I think.) With overflow seating at the pools, people got […]

Winter Sure is Swell!

I had to pull my sweatshirt back out on Thursday night at 5:30 PM when the weather did a 180. Back to WINDY and COLD with mauka rain in Waimea. Fortunately, the sun still sets every night!

Winter is Swell!

Hualalai, because of winter swells, has been treated to strong large waves for the last few weeks, a sight to behold. “Winter swells are more typically ground swells than wind swells. They are coming from much further away; therefore they bring with them more power and might.”

Oh, What A Beautiful Morning!

It was a busy morning on my lanai. First the sunrise!

Then Kelly’s Tree Service provided further viewing pleasure! These guys were up and down the palm trees, hacking off fronds the old fashioned way!

Rainy Day Blues, Pinks, Purples

When I was on the Mainland last week, the checker at the market asked about the weather in Hawaii. “Does it ever rain?” she asked.

“It’s the tropics so it could rain everyday,” I said. “But where we live at Hualalai, it’s mostly sunny with a few clouds.” Fast forward five days and I’m driving […]

Aloha!

After technical difficulties and your editor’s journey, there have been no posts. But here we go! Hopefully!

Winter Wonderland Hualalai Style!

True winter is here for the first time in several years. Hualalai is a vortex of beauty for the “chilly” weather. Thanks to Bob Holman for the Mauna Kea view from Hualalai golf course. Thanks to David Taran for the sunset photo taken between the tropical downpours. Thanks to Pam […]

Turtles Like Sunbathing at Canoe Club Beach.

One day the walk along the beach between Hualalai and Kukio was like a nature park. A monk seal was hanging out and so was this turtle. Up close, it looks like a rejuvenating facial would help this honey.

A Sunset Special!

I love that when the sun is setting, everyone stops for a few minutes to stare at the horizon. It is a special moment that inspires awe in all of us. (Okay, not the little kids. They’re still running around or digging in the sand or throwing rocks into the water. I also love that […]

Stunning Sunsets at Hualalai!

With no vog filling the sky, the sun sets yellow. No matter where you stand, it’s an awesome sight. Green flashes abound!

Hualalai: Our Happy Place

From morning to night, on sea or on land, we are blessed by the beauty surrounding Hualalai. At this time of year, the mild weather permits us to do so much here. We can be outside all day and all night (the full moon lights our way).

Sunrise Special!

This is an unusual shot from me as I’m not usually vertical at sunrise. In fact, when I woke up at 6:00 AM, I thought it was the middle of the night. Who knew it was still dark at that time?
