Tsunami

The good news is that no one was hurt or injured throughout this event.  The staff of the hotel and the resort were incredible.  Inundation areas were evacuated.  The hotel guests, residents on Kumukehu St and the Makai (lower) part of Waiulu St were evacuated to Ke ‘Olu.  Many residents who were evacuated stayed with friends on the resort who were not evacuated.

Now for the bad news.  It looks like the Beach House has had substantial damage.  A portion of the deck was thrown up onto the 18th fairway.  The cart path from the south broke and an estuary was created, so the fish in the pond were damaged and there is no path from to the beach house currently.

The main adult pool seemed to filled furniture and debris.  We could not get to the beach tree, but we were told that there is some damage tot he beach house.  Pahuia had debris but wasn’t badly damaged.  The King’s pond (which we could not see) was damaged.  We don’t know what has happened to the fish, but it doesn’t sound good.

Here are some quick photos.  We are hoping to get many more from other residents.  When we get them, we’ll put them on the blog.  Feel free to comment and we will try to respond.
