Spring has sprung many kids from school so they could enjoy their Spring Break at Hualalai. It’s been fun seeing so many families enjoying their Hawaiian time together although it was kind of a shock seeing a two-year-old driving a cart down Waiulu Street. (just kidding…I think.) With overflow seating at the pools, people got […]
When I was on the Mainland last week, the checker at the market asked about the weather in Hawaii. “Does it ever rain?” she asked.
“It’s the tropics so it could rain everyday,” I said. “But where we live at Hualalai, it’s mostly sunny with a few clouds.” Fast forward five days and I’m driving […]

One thing about the environs of Hualalai, there is natural beauty everywhere. I took a walk one night and I honestly didn’t know where to look. In front of me was the glowing sunset, behind me was a breathtaking rainbow. I kept swiveling around like I was watching a tennis match. Then yesterday morning, I […]

It’s been a little over a year since the USA and Hualalai shut down because of the CoVid 19 virus. I remember feeling as if I were in some science fiction movie….I was never fond of science fiction movies; being in one was worse. Many people got quickly out of Dodge, while others of us […]
One of the benefits of waking up at Hualalai each morning is the always changing viewscape mix of land, sky and sea.
Yesterday’s rainbow didn’t disappoint.

Lightning slashed across the dark skies, appearing as if commanded by a magician’s wand. As the growl of thunder reverberated around us, it made me understand why Native people felt that […]
The air all day at Hualalai had been thick with humidity. It was hot and sticky until the afternoon, when the breezes picked up. Then the rains came, an unexpected deluge. It created an eery sunset. It’s these kinds of weather events that make the tropics and Hualalai special, but they can play havoc with […]

Just a reminder that Hualalai is a magical place where pots of gold abound.
No matter whether you were at Ke’Olu practicing golf shots or at the Palm Grove practicing yoga, Nature’s paintbrush was visible on Wednesday morning. (Anyone find a pot of gold?) Meanwhile on the ocean, the whales were whirling dervishes.

I always suspected it, but there’s proof now. The rainbow’s end is at Hualalai. Aloha Canoe Club!
