Waiakauhi pond
Since 2011 we have watched as David Chai and his crew have worked to restore the pond next to the Beach House. (Click here to read about how he rehabilitated the pond.) It is looking really healthy now. Here in his own words are how the pond has made it:
It has been a long road and our work now moves to a new phase for the next ten (10) years here . This is a first step towards our goal of eventually managing a sustainable marine resource at Ka’upulehu .
Mahalo for your letters and testimony in support at all […]
The families of Kuki`o and Ka`upulehu, have resisted movement away from our `aina aloha, the region of North Kona, called Kekaha and further described as wai`ole (without water). A forever independent lot, we have been goat herders and ranchers, truck drivers and educators, always fishing our home waters and tending our gardens […]

“They caught this jack fish or Ulua using a spear gun. I think the fish must weigh close to 50 lbs! Never know what you will come across at Hualalai.” Kathy Ferguson sent this photo in.
