On 2/27/18 as part of the Heritage Series the Aloha Perrforming Arts Company was invited to share what they are doing at the Aloha Theater. Despite the rain the performers showed us what they can do. The following are clips from that Monday Night Mooch.
Last Saturday night Susan Mendelson shared a lot about her life, growing up in Canada, then discovering how to be Vancouver’s #1 caterer and then building a career entertaining others on TV and radio about food and cooking. She also shared how The Lazy Gourmet, her catering company can cater up to 30,000 meals in one weekend.

Susan served Cheesecake, chocolate cheesecake, Nanaimo Bars and carrot cake. These were the items that propelled her career years ago.
Susan will share with you how she started out making cheese cakes and turned that talent into becoming the leading caterer and food entrepreneur in Vancouver and Canada.
Join your fellow members at a Know Your Neighbor session featuring Susan Mendelson. Ke ‘Olu dining realized the problems they had at the last Know Your Neighbor and is now ready to welcome you by offering a “Pre-Event Dining” 3-entree menu. Dinner seating will begin at five and with the limited menu we should all be fed by 6:30. Because the Know Your Neighbor program is increasingly popular, reservations are necessary if you wish to eat at Ke ‘Olu, and can be made through the Members Concierge at (808) 325-8450. This will allow members to have a more leisurely dinner prior to the interview. Susan will be making the deserts herself at the presentation.
Sunday night the weather turned around 6PM. The wind picked up and rain started falling, lightning flashed and thunder rumbled. Over the next 4- 6 hours the storm continued and about 4 inches of rain soaked Hualalai. Then in the morning we all woke to see an extemely rare sight: the peak of Haleakala mountain on Maui had snow on it! Hope you can see it in this photo.
Some members have complained recently to finding dog poop on their lawns. They have asked me to remind fellow members to please pick up after their pets. Maybe you can train your dog to do what this dog is doing. No? Well, then you’ll have to do it.

Aloha Friday’s dinners at Ke ‘Olu offer an additional treat. This table of cheeses, fruits, jams, breads, crackers and meats are an addition to the surf n turf and/or the Raw Bar. Very tasty.
Just in case you didn’t know it. There is a Butcher Shop in Kona. It is located in the Kopiko Plaza which is the strip mall just below the little mall that has Long Drugs and Sack n Save in it.
Click this photo to go to the shop’s web site.
The shop also has some fresh caught fish as well as what has been hunted on the various Hawaiian Islands.
