Have you visited our garden at Ke’olu? Lots of growing going on there! Can you spy the pineapple?
The island of Hawaii experienced a 5.2 magnitude earthquake on Saturday evening. Hualalai Club members reported feeling a sharp jolt that shook them and the door frames of their houses, as well as knocking items off of shelves. There were no reports of injuries or extensive damage. Of course, the dramatic shifting of the earth did not deter our unshakeable members from their dinner plans.
The sun still set as usual.
Chris Hattasch shared that you can see airliner status to and fro KOA in real time if you go to: https://flightaware.com/live/airport_status_bigmap.rvt?airport=PHKO. It’s very cool to watch. (And no, I don’t know how to create a hyperlink so you’ll have to do it yourself. However, I will put it on my to-do list.)
What to do with the succulent beef left over from Sunday’s prime rib night? Chef Junior has come up with the perfect solution: rare roast beef sandwiches on Monday’s lunch menu. What do you think? Email me your response!
World renowned artist and member Becky Holman has a few select paintings at the Golf Pro Shop that are available for purchase.
Your sad editor has flown reluctantly away from the Big Island. That’s physically speaking. My heart is still there although my body is on the mainland. But virtually, I’m all yours.
The first annual Hualalai Rounders Classic was a combination of sport and good sportspersonship: golf in the morning, tennis and bocce ball in the afternoon along with good eats and drinks.
Members and friends gathered to play, socialize and support the Hualalai Ohana Foundation. A round of applause to all!
Bill McDowell shares these incredible shots from the nine thousand foot level on Mauna Kea before and at sunrise, including one of The Blue Hour.
Member Susan Mendelson’s Nanaimo bars are not only melt-in-your-mouth delicious, but they (and she) are also famous. They were featured recently in the New York Times.
Wally is looking for a relatively new, in good condition, EZGO golf cart.
Call Wally 614 266 1216.
(The cart should not look like this turquoise classic.)
I did it! I went without my computer for nine days! We had a great Staycation at the Four Seasons Hualalai. What a great resort! What a great property! What great people! Of course, I knew all that, but I’d forgotten the special feeling of each combined element that greets you from the moment you walk into the hotel lobby.
I can also recommend the in-room dining menu. I’m an expert at it since my husband was sick with the flu the whole time we were there. We ate dinner in the room six nights. It might have been a record. The chicken soup is like a Z pack.
As an added attraction, the Super moon created a special ambiance several nights. Here it is setting over the ocean at daybreak.
Your editor is going on a staycation and will hopefully not have computer access! I’m going to be free as a bird! See you in a week!
THE MILKY WAY THIS MORNING FROM 10,000 FEET ON MAUNA KEA. IT WAS A COOL 28 DEGREES AT TWO AM.
The BLUE HOUR, which lasts ten minutes as the sun comes up on the horizon.
Wednesday is the official beginning of spring, but signs of it are all around Hualalai.
