Kona Historical Society

GoFundMe Fund for Wana Family

Last week, Devin Wana, the beloved husband of Lily Wana passed away suddenly of a heart attack. Lily is a long time staff member at the Canoe Club. She has two children. Alexis, age 15, attends the Kamehameha Boarding School on Oahu for superior students, and 11 year old Isaiah is in middle school on the Big Island.  Devin worked in security at the Kailua Kona airport.
Ronnie and Jay Kaiser have started a gofundme campaign to help Lily in moving forward with immediate expenses as well as providing support for the education of Alexis and Isaiah.
“The Hualalai Club community is known for its Ohana spirit, both among the member community and with our dedicated staff.  Please help us raise money to help Lily. Anything you can give would be much appreciated.  Mahalo,” Ronnie and Jay said.

Resident’s Beach House Delights

It’s hard to know what the best thing about the Resident’s Beach House is. I love that the little kids can play in the sand while their elders sip cocktails. I love that we can sit so close to the Pacific. I know I’m in love with the Chinese style steamed fish, but that’s not the main event. Which is it? The sunset view or the skillet cookie? What’s your favorite? Let’s vote!

Summer Bash: Fun for the Family

The Summer Bash has been reinvented to an upscale Street Fair/ Taste of Hualalai event. July 27, Saturday, from 5:00 to 9:00 PM.

Tropical Storm Hits at Sunset

The air all day at Hualalai had been thick with humidity. It was hot and sticky until the afternoon, when the breezes picked up. Then the rains came, an unexpected deluge. It created an eery sunset. It’s these kinds of weather events that make the tropics and Hualalai special, but they can play havoc with dinner plans.
