Last week, Devin Wana, the beloved husband of Lily Wana passed away suddenly of a heart attack. Lily is a long time staff member at the Canoe Club. She has two children. Alexis, age 15, attends the Kamehameha Boarding School on Oahu for superior students, and 11 year old Isaiah is in middle school on the Big Island. Devin worked in security at the Kailua Kona airport.
Ronnie and Jay Kaiser have started a gofundme campaign to help Lily in moving forward with immediate expenses as well as providing support for the education of Alexis and Isaiah.
“The Hualalai Club community is known for its Ohana spirit, both among the member community and with our dedicated staff. Please help us raise money to help Lily. Anything you can give would be much appreciated. Mahalo,” Ronnie and Jay said.
This is from the Tuesday Talk Story. Brendan Moynahan contributed information about signing up to play in the Mitsubishi, January 12-18, 2020. The Pro-AM is January 14 and 15. Sign Ups are online from August 12 to August 19. I hope this letter finds you well following a great summer season! As in years past, Hualālai has successfully secured a number of one-day Pro-Am spots for Club Members’ participation. As our membership and interest in the event has grown, we are offering Members another opportunity to play with these legendary professionals in 2020 and in doing so will support a great cause. Your entry fee will support the programs of the Hualālai Ohana Foundation, which helps to create access to education and necessary medical aid for employees and their families. If you would like more information about the foundation’s awards and recipients, please visit www.hualalaiohanafoundation.orgor contact their office at 808-325-4701. The price for a one-day spot for Members in the 2020 Pro-Am will be $3,950.00 including Hawaii State GE Tax. Full payment will be made to The Hualālai Ohana Foundation, but your recorded donation will be about $2,100 while $1,850 is paid to the Professional Golf Association (PGA) for your spot. Please note, once purchased your confirmed spot(s) are non-refundable. If you are unable to participate, you may transfer your spot to another player or notify the Foundation and they will attempt to fill the spot for you. Those Members and guests who participate will enjoy the following activities during the week of the Championship: • Welcome Reception and Draw Party for Contestant and Spouse (Location to be determined) The week of September 2nd, we will confirm the participants via e-mail based on when we received their response. If there are Members who would like to purchase more than one spot, please indicate in your response how many you would be interested in. In order to accommodate as many of our Members as possible, first priority will be given to Members wishing to play one day. Members wishing to play an additional day will have next priority. If a Member would like to have guests play with them, those guests will have priority behind all Members. If you are interested in participating in the 2020 Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualālai Pro-Am, please register online August 12th through August 19th. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, I look forward to hearing from you soon. Best regards,
It’s hard to know what the best thing about the Resident’s Beach House is. I love that the little kids can play in the sand while their elders sip cocktails. I love that we can sit so close to the Pacific. I know I’m in love with the Chinese style steamed fish, but that’s not the main event. Which is it? The sunset view or the skillet cookie? What’s your favorite? Let’s vote!
The air all day at Hualalai had been thick with humidity. It was hot and sticky until the afternoon, when the breezes picked up. Then the rains came, an unexpected deluge. It created an eery sunset. It’s these kinds of weather events that make the tropics and Hualalai special, but they can play havoc with dinner plans.
