Valentine Dinner 2020

The  celebration of Valentine’s Day at Ke’olu was sweet. From the long stem red rose each woman was presented to the lovingly covered strawberries at the end, the evening was a Hawaiian dream. While the sun set and Maui became more defined, Ka’ulu blessed us all with her hula.

Taking a Field Trip: Akaka Falls and Hawaii Tropical Botanical Gardens

The Big Island of Hawaii offers so much to see and do! We just took a day trip to the Botanical Gardens in Hilo, enjoying the scenic ride and visiting the Akaka Falls. And the Botanical Gardens? A tropical delight founded by Dan and Pauline Lutkenhouse in 1978 and opened in 1984.

Wellness Committee Important In-put

Wellness Committee members present: Eve Bernstein, Peggy Kent, Chantal Prunier, Sally Reeve, Teresa Schneider

The Wellness (aka Fitness) Committee met with Cecilia Hercik and Debbie Casey on Tuesday. Members discussed the reservation system for fitness classes, especially Pilates and hot yoga and the possibility of instituting a no-show fee; the need for more spaces or more classes for Pilates and hot yoga; cleanliness of the facility; plans for the climbing wall space; fitness equipment needs and upkeep; staffing needs, healthy meal options at Resort dining rooms; and ergonomic stools for spa reception staff.

Cecilia and Debbie provided feedback to the committee. Cecilia will report back to the committee within two weeks. The committee will share that information with members. The committee was told the Resort will soon be implementing a new online reservation system including fitness classes, that plans are being developed for the climbing wall space, and an ergonomic chair will be tested at the spa reception area. Debbie Casey will incorporate information about these items into Tuesday Talk stories.
