The Wellness (aka Fitness) Committee met with Cecilia Hercik and Debbie Casey on Tuesday. Members discussed the reservation system for fitness classes, especially Pilates and hot yoga and the possibility of instituting a no-show fee; the need for more spaces or more classes for Pilates and hot yoga; cleanliness of the facility; plans for the climbing wall space; fitness equipment needs and upkeep; staffing needs, healthy meal options at Resort dining rooms; and ergonomic stools for spa reception staff. Cecilia and Debbie provided feedback to the committee. Cecilia will report back to the committee within two weeks. The committee will share that information with members. The committee was told the Resort will soon be implementing a new online reservation system including fitness classes, that plans are being developed for the climbing wall space, and an ergonomic chair will be tested at the spa reception area. Debbie Casey will incorporate information about these items into Tuesday Talk stories. The second annual Rounders Classic will be held March 9. It was a great event last year! Save the date! Three Hualalai members all brought home trophies from the 22nd Annual Ka ‘Ohana O Na Wahine Golf Tournament recently held at Kohanaiki Golf Club. Debi Justice took second place, Rhonda Huntley took third place, and Marj Callinan, fourth. This is an impressive showing out of 80 women! Congratulations, Team Hualalai.

With over 20 years of culinary experience, including a number in private clubs, and trained in a wide variety of cuisines, Michael Haren will be a welcome addition to our ‘ohana. He began his formal training directly under Chef Michael Kantor, a James Beard Award winning chef, who was trained by world renowned Chef, George Perrier of Le Bec Fin. He feels he thrives in places that foster creativity and variety. “Over my years of private club experience I have come to understand and appreciate what it takes to create special moments for our Members. My philosophy on food is simple; fresh quality ingredients prepared in a thoughtful way to highlight their natural flavors,” Michael says.
