Not Enough Food to Eat

During this time of celebration of the holidays, let’s not forget the people who struggle with hunger.

Sunset/Sunrise?

Sometimes the sunset sky at night is closely replicated by the sunrise sky in the morning. December 7th and 8th. Almost hard to tell the difference except for one thing.

Hawaii Island Humane Society Outreach

A Note from the Hawaii Island Humane Society

2020 has been a year like no other. The COVID-19 pandemic meant a tremendous reduction in our fundraising capabilities. With a heavy heart, we had to make the safe choice to cancel our annual fundraiser, Tropical Paws. Our shelters faced to reality of limiting access to the public. Our team braced for an influx of unwanted and abandoned animals. But in the darkness, we found light.

This year, Hawaii Island Humane Society designed new and innovative programs to best serve those who need us most: the animals and the community. Our Foster to Adopt program paved the way for thousands of animals to find loving forever homes. Our Second Chance Fund gave countless sick or injured animals the care they needed to heal. Our Community Pet Pantry meant that thousands of animals did not go hungry. Our Community Pet Support department provided resources to pet parents impacted by COVID-19, helping to preserve families by keeping pets in homes. Our Mobile Spay and Neuter Waggin’ hit the road to serve hundreds of community members islandwide, with free spay and neuter and community veterinary care services.

We need your support now more than ever. Everything we do is made possible by your generosity. Please open your hearts today to give the gift that saves lives.

Florals for Festive

Several members asked who had done the floral arrangements in yesterday’s post. Here is the info:
While Rowena at Kailua-Kona Flower Market does not have a specific Festive floral offering flyer (like she did for Thanksgiving), she is absolutely open to any Members reaching out to her if they would be interested in ordering arrangements.  She can be reached at 808-345-8099 or 808floralsbyrowena@gmail.com.

Flowers and Things

Dear Members,

Please excuse the lack of posts recently–your intrepid editor got stung by some super strong tropical insect and hasn’t had the use of her thumb (or really her brain) for several days. I’ve wanted to share the beautiful flower arrangements for Thanksgiving that I ordered via the Club, and the interesting shots Bill McDowell has taken of our garden variety flowers at Hualalai. So here they are.

Also, yes, the hotel is open! Not all of it, but Beach Tree, the lobby and shops, and Ulu. The virtual reopening ceremony on Instagram was fun to watch!

I’ll be in touch when my sore thumb lets me!

Happy Thanksgiving!!
