REPOST: Help us keep Hualalai Coqui Frog Free

Coqui Frog

Coqui Frog

Recently we’ve had an increase in Coqui Frogs on property.  Hualalai is beefing up its eradication program, but it takes the help of everyone.  So please review this  past post and become familiar with what a coqui frog sounds like.  If you hear that sound at night make sure you report it on the Coqui Hot Line.

Coqui Frogs are tiny frogs that come in on landscaping.  They multiply quickly and they are very loud.  There are parts of the Big Island where people can’t sleep because the coqui sounds are so annoying.  Our management is committed to keep them out of Hualalai.  Check out their information at http://www.hualalairesort.com/upload/documents/2007CoquiFreeDRAFTcopy-06B530.pdf.  They only make their sounds at night.   Authorized landscape installers have to make sure their new installations are coqui free.  There is a coqui frog hot line that you should call if you hear coqui frogs anywhere on the property.   Call 808.325.8544

Please check out this link :  http://www.hear.org/AlienSpeciesInHawaii/species/frogs/ to learn more and listen to the sounds below.
