Aloha,
It has been almost six months since our merger and a lot has happened that I want to share with you.
Driven by our commitment to our employees we have started a number of training initiatives resort
wide and most importantly an introduction to hotel facilities and service objectives for all our Hualalai
employees. 380 employees have participated and it was well received with great feedback. We will
continue with these efforts to invest in our employees who deliver the “Magic of Hualalai” on a daily
basis.
Mahalo for your participation last week in our recent Festive holiday survey. We truly value your
feedback as it provides us with great perspective on how to continue to improve our operation. If you
haven’t had a chance yet to submit your feedback, please find the link to the survey in this week’s club
update. It really takes only a few minutes to complete. We will share the results of the survey with you
by the end of April!
Spring is arriving soon and we look forward to seeing you and your family and guests this holiday break.
We have a fabulous Easter Sunday brunch lined up at ‘ULU on April 5, some Luau & Polynesian shows
scheduled in the next few weeks along with some fun and exciting activities planned for our Keiki.
We’ve spoken a lot about Ke’olu and here we are. I am happy to share with you the new leadership
structure for your Ke’olu Clubhouse. But before we go there, I want to make sure to highlight that our
existing “dream team” Divo, Nicolle, Jentzen, Cindy, Jamie and Sue will continue to be your Ohana when
you enter Ke’olu.
• Wayne Duprey, Assistant Director of F&B, will oversee and support all aspects of the Food and
Beverage operation at Ke’olu.
• A New Assistant Manager for Ke’olu will run the daily operation for the restaurant & bar as well
as the pool area.
• A New dedicated Chef de Cuisine will create an exciting culinary experience.
• Jahn Sawinski will become our Head Golf Professional, working with all golf aspects as well as
the Ke’olu fitness pavilion and locker rooms.
• Cindy Lewis will become our Member Event Coordinator, working closely with the Members’
Social Committee with the creation, coordination, development and promotion of planned
activities such as progressive dinners, classes, off-property events and more.
A big mahalo to Jahn for his contributions over the years. Golf was always one of his passions and to see
him back in this role is very exciting.
We are also looking forward to seeing Cindy in her new role with the Social Committee. Cindy and Cara
have done an amazing job supervising the Club Concierge this past year. As both will soon be stepping
into new roles (Cara Price in her new role as Executive Director for the Hualalai ‘Ohana Foundation and
Cindy Lewis in this new role as the Member Events Coordinator), we will be bringing in a new Assistant
Manager for the Club Concierge. Cindy will continue to oversee the Club Concierge until the new
Assistant Manager is in place.
The search for our Assistant Manager and Chef de Cuisine has already begun and with the required
resources in place soon we are excited to kick off the evolution of Ke’olu. More to come….
Please feel free to reach out to me anytime you have any questions or suggestions.
Mahalo,
Florian Riedel
