On A Clear Day

Maui and Lanai were clearly visible on Monday morning, November 4.

Spectacular Sunset Sparks

The sun setting last night was like a fireworks show. The Aloha Friday bunch at Ke’olu couldn’t stop clicking.

It started slowly.

And continued to grow glowier.

Until it reached its crescendo.

Meanwhile to the north, Maui was a picture […]

Sunset City: RBH

July sunsets are so stunning. Resident’s Beach House is the perfect viewing venue.

Tropical Storm Hits at Sunset

The air all day at Hualalai had been thick with humidity. It was hot and sticky until the afternoon, when the breezes picked up. Then the rains came, an unexpected deluge. It created an eery sunset. It’s these kinds of weather events that make the tropics and Hualalai special, but they can play havoc with […]

Spring Has Sprung

Diane Kantor writes: “It’s spring at Hualalai, too!” And this photo proves it!

Ke’olu Garden

Have you visited our garden at Ke’olu? Lots of growing going on there! Can you spy the pineapple?

Going on a Staycation!

Your editor is going on a staycation and will hopefully not have computer access! I’m going to be free as a bird! See you in a week!

Wednesday is the official beginning of spring, but signs of it are all around Hualalai.

Daylight Savings Time Begins

Although we don’t change our clocks here, our near and dear on the mainland are doing so. That means it’s now a 3 hour time difference for those of us with West Coast connections and 6 for East Coasters. Translate that for me: When it’s sunset here, I have two grandsons who might or might […]

Kona Village Petroglyph Shadows

We must not forget that the Ancients were here long before us. They left their indelible mark in many ways. One is with petroglyph drawings. Thank you, Bill McDowell, for your photographs that chronicle the ties we keep with them.

Double Exposure

Yesterday morning when I passed the Canoe Club, I noticed a photo shoot in session.

Last evening at the Resident’s Beach House, the crew was enjoying dinner!

Seen Around Hualalai

When it’s rainy, windy and chilly, Mauna Kea gets a whipped cream topping.

Could there ever be a better walk?

Record Wind, Rain and Surf Bruise The Big Island

Personally, I’m glad to be at Hualalai instead of in the bad weather on the mainland so I feel I can’t complain. (The snow pictures sure do look pretty though.) But the wind is getting on my nerves. Not to mention that after my morning walk I feel like I just had microdermabrasion. One good […]

Another Ho-hum Hualalai Morning!

No matter whether you were at Ke’Olu practicing golf shots or at the Palm Grove practicing yoga, Nature’s paintbrush was visible on Wednesday morning. (Anyone find a pot of gold?) Meanwhile on the ocean, the whales were whirling dervishes.
