photo courtesty of Bill McDowell For two days, Hualalai was the calm in the middle of a storm. Thunder boomed during the day and at night, shaking our foundations. Lightning slashed across the dark skies, appearing as if commanded by a magician’s wand. As the growl of thunder reverberated around us, it made me understand why Native people felt that […] I went on my walk yesterday without my Wellingtons. (Who knew I’d need them.) I ended up with soaked shoes and sand to my ankles. It was gorgeous! Thank you to the landscape staff who were there to clean up the ocean’s fury even as it continued to pound onto shore.

Tis the season for egret congregations and heron fishing expeditions.
