A Trip Out of the Bubble

The other day a few of us decided to take an excursion out of the bubble.  No we weren’t going to Costco or Safeway or the Shops at Mauna Lani.  We wanted to go someplace we haven’t gone in quite awhile.  We took a trip to Honokaa.  But we wanted to go via the Old Mamalahoa Highway, which we had never been on.  Despite the fact that local weather reports were claiming it was going to be raining that day, we went anyway.  We were delighted.  The Old Mamalahoa Highway  winds through beautiful green fields and woods.  The weather was outstanding and the scenery fabulous.

When we got to Honokaa we dined at a new restaurant, Aulani, an Asian Fusion Cafe’.  It was delightful and delicious.

And of course we stopped for one of Tex’s renowned malasadas.
