Alaka’i Nalu and the Ocean Activities will be relocated back to the beach at Kona Village

(Reprint from John Freitas’s Club Updates)

Great News! Beginning Monday, October 3rd the Alaka’i Nalu and the Ocean Activities will be relocated back to the beach at Kona Village. As we look forward to the return of our humpback whales in the coming months, this also means the larger waves hitting our beautiful Kohala coastline will start returning very soon as well. To allow you and your guests more consistent access to the Ocean Activities at Hualalai (and for safety reasons), we will be temporarily relocating
our Alaka’i Nalu and the Ocean Activities back to the beach at Kona Village beginning Monday, October 3rd. We currently anticipate the Alaka’i remaining there into the spring months and will keep you informed of any transition plans at that time via the Weekly Club Update. No other
facilities or activities will be available at Kona Village during this time and there will be no Alaka’i at the Canoe Club while the Ocean Activities are being run out of the Kona Village Beach.
As much of Kona Village is still under major disrepair from the Tsunami, Member cart parking and
access to the Ocean Activities will be revised as follows:

  • Parking for Member golf carts will be on the beach access right of way between Four Seasons
  • Hualalai and Kona Village and available only from dawn until dusk daily.
  • Please follow the signs to Kona Village cart parking and proceed toward the Member cart
  • parking area at Kona Village (just as you did before the tsunami). As you reach Kona
  • Village, please follow the signs and turn to the left toward the beach.
  •  Please park your carts to the right side of the indicator on the pathway, just left of and parallel to the fence.
  •  Cart parking in this area should only be used for access to the Kona Village beach.
  • Please proceed on foot toward the ocean and walk along the beach to the temporary Alaka’i Ocean Activities Beach Shack. This will be in almost the same exact location as prior to the
  • Tsunami. Showers and towels will be available for you there. Restroom facilities will be limited to portable toilets. The Alaka’i will be at that location from 7:00 am – 2:30 pm daily to assist you.
  • Member Ribcraft and Hui Wa’a activities will be conducted from Kona Village Beach.
