Oscar Party

Sunday night over 60 members gathered at the Canoe Club to watch the Academy Awards.  When you entered on the red carpet the paparazzi snapped glamor photos.  Champagne was served (and you could keep the flute)  Dinner was divine: blinis, bite size ersatz beef wellington, asparagus wrapped in prosciutto, raclette of cheese with potatoes, grilled figs and Mac and Cheese.

Those who stayed to the end and had previously submitted their ballots as to who would win an Oscar got a chance to win a fabulous prize–dinner for two at Ke ‘Olu.  Jim Stephens won the coveted prize.

Between the clinking of the glasses, the popping of the flash bulbs (and the champagne corks), the quips the quotes, the applause and the palpable tension the evening was indeed gala.

Sadly the evening came to an end at 10PM.  After all, this is Hualalai where 10PM is one hour past midnight.
