🌺🌺🌺The Art and Meaning of the Lei🌺🌺🌺

Welcome to Pono Kalipi

Monday, May 6 | 11 AM – 12 PM |  Ke’olu Great Room

HE LEI HALI’A ALOHA – LEI WORKSHOP

Join us this May for a lei making and a talk story event with Pono Kalipi. Born and raised on Maunaloa, Molokaʻi, Pono has been making lei since he was seven years old. He currently resides in Hilo and his lei ʻaʻaliʻi was selected for the iconic official Merrie Monarch shirt this past April.

“May brings the blossoming of flowers in HawaiÊ»i and also serves as a powerful metaphor for our own journey as individuals. We are all like budding lei makers, embarking on our unique paths in life, each of us a pua—a flower—awaiting our moment to bloom. Much like the delicate petals carefully woven into a lei, our experiences, choices, and aspirations shape the journeys of our lives.”
