Day-O, Our Banana “Tree” is Flowering!

We have quite a flourishing banana grove in our garden. We get four or more crops a year. A new flower appeared last week, doing its thing! When its petals drop off, the banana flowerlets are revealed. I read that the purple petals of the large flower are edible. The bananas will develop slowly. It would be great if they were ripe by Festive but I doubt it.
