Sea Turtle Research at Hualalai

Debby Webster shared the following description and photos:
“I believe they found nine turtles today. They measured each one, length and width, implanted a chip for identification, etched and then painted a number on the shell, and gave them an injection of antibiotics. The kids from HPA were terrific. They really knew what they were doing, snorkeling for turtles that weren’t on the beach, transporting them in large plastic bins, recording all of the pertinent information, holding them in place for their checkups and covering their heads with a towel to make them less nervous. I’m so glad we went by to watch and talk to David, members of the Natural Resources Team for Hualalai and the science teacher from HPA who was leading the effort.”
